At Ground Espresso Bars, we are a family owned and operated business. It is our mission to provide a haven for our customers where comfort, friendship, happiness, quality and ethics become synonymous with our name. We opened our first coffee shop in Coleraine in Northern Ireland in 2001, and have grown all across the UK and Ireland since then.

We are now recruiting a temporary manager for our busy coffee shop inside Next at Thistles Shopping Centre.

Initial contract of 6 months.

Core responsibilities;

Lead and supervise daily shop operations to ensure consistent, high-quality customer experience.

Hire, train, and develop baristas and support staff; create staff schedules that optimise coverage and labour costs.

Oversee beverage and food preparation to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to recipe standards and health/safety guidelines.

Manage opening/closing procedures, cash handling, POS operations, and end-of-day financial reconciliation.

Monitor key performance metrics (sales, labour, waste, profit margins) and implement improvements.

Maintain inventory control: order supplies, manage vendor relationships, track par levels, conduct regular stock counts, and minimize waste.

Ensure compliance with both environmental health and health & safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and company policies.

Uphold brand standards for service, product quality, presentation, and store cleanliness.

Drive customer satisfaction by addressing feedback, resolving issues, and fostering a welcoming environment.

Drive sales with local knowledge of promotional events, loyalty programs, and community partnerships in the area.

Analyse sales reports, payroll data, and budgets; in line with forecasting and business planning.

Report any maintenance issues to ensure equipment uptime and a safe, clean environment.

Manage cash handling procedures, banking, and financial controls.

Qualifications;

1+ years of experience in a café/coffee shop or similar foodservice environment; 2+ year in a supervisory/leadership role.

Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso extraction, milk texturing, and beverage/menu development would be advantageous.

Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills; ability to coach and motivate staff.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of delivering outstanding customer service.

Experience with inventory management, cost control, and budgeting.

Proficiency with POS systems, cash handling, and basic computer/desk software

Have a can do attitude with the ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, a confident problem solver with the ability to make quick, informed decisions.

Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed - our store managers are responsible to ensure the store is operational, therefore working on short notice may be required.

Physical ability to stand for long periods, and perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.

People management will be a large part of your day - you'll be delegating to your team whilst being customer-facing. Communication is key, and you'll be someone who is open to new ideas and can be flexible as situations arise.

42 hours per week, 5/7 days.

£30,597 per annum
